Ranch foreman helps California deputies capture bull on highway

Authorities in California turned to a professional rancher after struggling for hours to capture a bull running along a highway near Half Moon Bay. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and California Highway Patrol troopers responded Tuesday evening after the large bull was spotted on Highway 35. Their attempts to secure the animal were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff’s office. Shortly after midnight, authorities contacted Samuel Ramos Palomino, a foreman at Sea Horse Ranch. Palomino was asleep when he received the call, but went to the scene despite needing to be at work at 4 a.m. Palomino managed to lasso the bull, but the rope snapped in half. He then used the remaining section to make a second attempt, eventually securing the animal at about 2:30 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office. After the bull was restrained, Palomino used his ranching experience to load it safely into his trailer. The sheriff’s office said he also provided a secure place for the animal to stay until it could be returned home at daybreak.
