Dutch TV Host Sets Record With 70-Mph Motorized Clog

A Dutch television host has set a Guinness World Records title after driving a motorized wooden-clog-inspired vehicle at 70.05 mph. Klaas van Kruistum reached the record-setting speed on April 4 at Breda International Airport in Bosschenhoofd, Netherlands, according to UPI Odd News. The vehicle was created by van Kruistum and the team behind his television series, “Klaas Can Do Everything.” The project began as an effort to build a record-breaking vehicle. The team contacted British inventor Kevin Nicks, who had established the record for the fastest motorized garden shed in 2025. Instead of building another shed, the group chose a distinctly Dutch design: a traditional wooden clog. They used the frame of an electric go-kart as the vehicle’s base, then added a shoe-shaped outer shell made from polyester and fiberglass. Van Kruistum took the driver’s seat for the speed attempt. The vehicle’s top speed of 70.05 mph was sufficient to secure the Guinness title for the fastest motorized clog shoe. The record attempt combined a familiar piece of Dutch footwear with the mechanics of a small electric vehicle, producing a machine that looked more like an oversized shoe than a conventional race vehicle.
