A mustang that spent more than two months roaming loose in Carroll County, Maryland, has been captured and taken to a rescue facility, according to Carroll County Animal Control and UPI Odd News.
The horse escaped from its former owner’s property in late June. It was later spotted on multiple occasions near Liberty Reservoir, where its movements prompted local authorities and horse rescuers to organize a capture effort.
For Thursday’s operation, Carroll County Animal Control worked with Gentle Giants Horse Rescue and JR Raulerson, described as a professional horse expert. The team assembled 59 fence panels into a funnel-like chute. Each panel measured 10 feet by 10 feet, and the arrangement was designed to guide the horse into an enclosed path it would enter willingly.
The chute led to a waiting trailer, allowing the rescuers to secure the mustang without reporting details of a chase or forced capture. Afterward, ownership was transferred to the Humane Society of Carroll County.
The horse has been given the name Outlaw and was placed at Gentle Giants in Mount Airy, where the organization secured a new home for it.
The capture ended the animal’s reported time at large after repeated sightings around the reservoir. The supplied report does not provide further information about how Outlaw escaped, the horse’s condition, or whether anyone was injured during the operation.
